First, I need to say a HUGE thank you to Lucas Pino for taking the time to experiment with me on this new duet! So far, I’ve been playing duos with rhythm section players, and this is the first two horn arrangement that I’ve tried! So thank you Lucas for putting up with that!

Here is in arrangement of a great standard from the old American Songbook “I Hear a Rhapsody” . This is the first in what I hope is a series of 2 horn duets that will feature improvisation as the focal point of the duet. There’s a lot of “jazz duets” out there, but not many that also call for improvisation.

I plan to make these available at a future time - but for now I can’t share the PDF of the arrangement for copyright reasons! Send me a message directly if you’re extra interested!

I hope you enjoy!

Nick

I post weekly videos here on YouTube that feature my original projects! Sometimes it’s a band video, a solo trombone piece, educational tips about jazz and playing trombone, they come out each Wednesday! If you don’t know me, I’m a jazz trombone player, educator, and producer based in New York City. I’ve had some great teachers like Wycliffe Gordon and Steve Turre, and studied at both the Eastman School of Music and the Juilliard School. I’m always up to something new so make sure to stay connected if you want to see what’s happening in the jazz world here in NYC!
